Can you spare a tire?
Most gay men don’t realize that chances are, without constant exercising and the right diet, that they will gain two and a half inches between the ages of 20 to 50. So what can gay men do about their waist?

Here’s a tale from the no-justice files: Not even dedicated runners are exempt from expanding waistlines as they get older. Research on about 7,000 male runners (both straight and gay, older and younger) between the ages of 18 and 50 pus found that even if he logs up to 50 miles a week, a runner’s waist will still grow two and a half inches between ages 20 to 50. He’d have to increase his weekly mileage by one and a half miles each year to maintain the same waist size – and even that’s no guarantee. The consolation: Running 40 miles a week for 10 years will reduce a gay man’s heart disease risk by 30 percent.

And in its ongoing focus on fat, science has also confirmed that drinking beer indeed makes for the proverbial beer belly. The surprise from University of North Carolina study of 15,800 people is that drinking wine causes fat to end up elsewhere. Researchers don’t know whether the difference stems from the types of drinks involved from dissimilarities between beer and wine drinkers’ diets.
